Photo Competition Entries

I entered a picture into the Photo District News World In Focus photography contest last night.  I entered the amateur competition in the "Outdoor Scenes" category.  There are some pretty slick prizes, so fingers crossed!  My submission is below, it's one of the horses on our family farm.

I definitely want to start entering more competitions, I won third place a few months ago in the Virginia Farm Bureau’s annual photo contest.  Not bad for my first contest, right?  My entry was called "Nobody's Home".

More District Flags

Enjoying a day off from work, I took advantage of the free time and ample sunlight to work on my flags project some more.  I remember reading that when using a polarizing filter, your angle to the sun will make a difference in the result you get--and I totally see what they're talking about.  In some of my files (pre Photoshop) the sky is colorless and white, while in others, the Carytown shot specifically, the sky was a really deep blue.  I'll have to start taking note of where the sun is when I'm shooting.  On another note--I've searched online, and there isn't anywhere that I can find where these flags are marked like in Google Maps or anything.  Finding them is bound to get trickier as the list gets smaller.

District Flags

I've started a project to photograph all of the district flags in the City of Richmond and convert them into B&W.  Figured when I've got them all I could make them into a collage or something.  Here are the first few that I've completed.  The toughest part so far is getting similar lighting conditions, it's so hit or miss lately.  My favorite is, coincidentally, the "Welcome to Richmond" flag.
